Healthy gardening practices

Over time, I’ve found that the simplest, most natural methods are often the most effective when it comes to keeping a garden in balance.

I mostly rely on things like:

  • Hand weeding

  • Sheet mulching

  • Creating clear edges

  • Choosing plants and groundcovers that can hold their own against weeds

These approaches have worked well, especially through Brisbane’s wet summers, when everything grows a little too well.

For me, healthy gardening isn’t just about the plants — it’s also about the rhythm and mindset behind it. Building up good soil, working with the seasons, and choosing methods that are gentle on the environment all feed back into the overall health of the space.

It doesn’t have to be complicated — just steady, thoughtful care that makes the garden feel manageable and alive throughout the year
